SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown firefighters battled a house fire on South Plaisted Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, said Rick Torre, public information officer for the Smithtown Fire Department. Firefighters found the fire had extended to the home's attic by the time they got there at 3:08 p.m. As of 4 p.m., firefighters are still working on dousing the fire. No injuries have been reported.
