FRANKLIN, MA — Hundreds of people gathered in Franklin's town common Sunday to mourn a woman who police say was murdered by her estranged husband before he set fire to her home last week.
Police say, Shirley Owen, 49, was killed by her estranged husband in a domestic violence incident before he torched her home.
Brendon Owen, 47, was taken into custody from the scene of the burning house on Grace Lane by use of a Taser and is now expected to face a murder charge, police say.
At the vigil on Sunday, participants held candles and sang hymns and remembered Shirley Owen as a fierce supporter of her children.
"Shirley was the most loving mother and a tireless advocate for her children," her GoFundMe page reads.
