The Jan.6 congressional investigation continues and as each week passes they seem to piece together in accurate detail, the events and the persons involved in the insurection. I was reading an article about the timeline of players, their texts, emails and phone calls. It sends a chill down my spine knowing some of the highest ranking individuals from the Trump administration sought to turn our democracy into a banana republic under authoritarian rule. High ranking members of the republican party did not try to protect our democracy… Instead they joined and chose to believe Trumps big lie. The congressional committee will continue to dig to get all the facts, but we are already most of the facts…. Months prior to the election. Donald Trump spent a great amount of time undermining the upcoming election integrity. On Aug.24 he asserted that “they only way he could loose is if the election is rigged” Even after the election Trump does what he does. Double downs with zero evidence, that it was a rigged election. Not only does Trump sell us lies endlessly. He tries to coerce the Georgia Secretary of State to commit election fraud. And additionally tried to get William Barr to buy his big lie. Mr. Barr flatly refused to be a part of it. On top of all of this, Trump pressured Mike Pence to overturn the choice the american people made. Mr. Pence refused the insanity. As if this isn’t enough Trump helped plan and organize the Jan. 6 event. He actually directed his supporters to “fight like hell” We all know Donald J Trump is continuing his open assault on the american electoral system and the really scary part is the majority of the republican party is complicite as they continue to pass election laws to make america white again. We already know Donald J Trump is a psychopath, a cult leader. We will learn more details as time goes on, but how we respond to this assault will define us for years to come.
