Can Christians engage social issues in a meaningful and healing way? Let's talk about a public theology and public virtue that does.
On one hand, many Christians have been taught an individual, private theology that leads to personal piety. On the other hand, Christians have conflated theology with partisanship and Christian nationalism. Should our understanding of God and transcendent reality inform and influence how we engage in public? How "should" we think about and address social issues? Can faith and public policy connect in a way that is meaningful and healing? This workshop will discuss the importance of integrating history, social context, and geography into a public theology and virtue that serves the common good.
Facilitated by Jacci Stuckey, PhD and Dr. TC Ham, PhD. Dr. Stuckey is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University and The University of Akron; she is professor of history. Dr. Ham is a graduate of Boston University and Dallas Theological Seminary; he is a professor of Biblical Studies.
