VU ATX is partnering with Pop-Up Birthday! For the safety of our volunteers we will be offering a flexible volunteer event in January. This month we will be supporting Pop-Up Birthday by writing birthday cards for children in foster care and donating extra gift wrapping materials left over from the holiday season. Pop-Up Birthday is a local nonprofit with a mission to provide joy, hope, and normalcy to children in foster care through a personalized birthday experience. Ways to Get Involved Depending on Your Comfort Level: -Fully Remote: VU ATX volunteers have the option to use their own materials from home and mail their birthday cards directly to Pop-Up Birthday at 101 Westlake Drive, Ste 210, Austin, TX 78746. -In Person: Volunteers also have the option to pick up card supplies from 11-11:30am at Central Machine Works (Look for the VU sign at an outdoor table). We will provide some pre-made card options and also art supplies to create custom birthday cards. After picking up supplies you can either return home to create your cards or grab a space outdoors at Central Machine Works and make your cards there. If you would like VU to mail in your cards please drop them off between 1-1:30pm or you can mail them directly to Pop-Up Birthday at 101 Westlake Drive, Ste 210, Austin, TX 78746. More details and recommendations on creating your birthday cards will be provided leading up to the event. Also, if you have any extra gift wrapping supplies left over from the holidays please bring those as well so we can donate to Pop-Up Birthday.
