Beach Cleanup at Prospect St.

2-98 Prospect St,Newport Beach CA 92663

Description

Join us for a beach cleanup! While our beaches appear clean, there is lots of microtrash and plastic pollution that we need your help to get REQUIRED: waivers must be submitted before participation in event. Please be prepared to show confirmation email or screenshot of completed waiver upon event check-in. We will provide bags, gloves, buckets, trash grabbers, and we will have hand sanitizer available for after. If you have your own bucket or trash grabber, we invite you to bring it! We encourage closed toe shoes for safety/liability but people can go barefoot at their own risk. Bring plenty of water in a reusable bottle, wear sunscreen, and dress for the weather. We strongly discourage use of any single use plastic at our beach cleanups. We will begin with a safety orientation and give you guidance where to pick up. Our chapter will collect data about the trash picked up, and total weights will be collected too. Parking in this location can be limited - please plan extra time accordingly. There are several municipal, hourly lots, or free street parking in neighborhoods on both sides of PCH. The location is also easily accessible via the bike path on W Oceanfront and by bus (OCTA Route 1, which has stops on PCH). Look for the blue Surfrider tent off Prospect St. and sand. COVID-19 NOTICE: Please stay home if you are feeling unwell. There are inherent risks involved when participating in in-person and public events, including risks associated with COVID-19. Participation in a cleanup is voluntary and solely at a participant’s own risk, including risk of exposure, infection, and illness from COVID-19. Individuals should only participate to the extent that they are healthy and can comply with physical distancing and applicable federal, state, and local rules and restrictions.
