ABOUT THE POSITION: Under direct supervision, the Seasonal/Temporary Maintenance Worker is assigned to the Parks Maintenance and/or Streets Maintenance functions of the Public Works Department. They assist in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks. In the Parks section these include: trash collection, graffiti removal, weed removal, irrigation repairs, operating battery powered blowers, weed trimmers, hedge trimmers, mowers and other equipment and tasks as needed to maintain City parks, landscapes, vegetation, trees and additional tasks as needed. In the Streets section these include trash collection, graffiti removal, drainage facility clearing and repairs, street sign repairs and replacement, road and curb paint work, pothole repairs, asphalt repairs and additional tasks as needed. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will be highly responsible, safety- conscious, and have a positive attitude. Ideally, the qualified individual will have aptitude, interest and/or experience in aspects of public works maintenance. SALARY AND BENEFITS: $18.50 - $23.50/hour This is a temporary, unrepresented, unbenefited position, limited to 1080hrs per year. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Public Works Department includes the divisions of Engineering, Project Management, Municipal Engineering, and Operations (Buildings, Parks, Streets and Sewers, and Fleet). With a complement of 30 staff, an $8 million operational budget, and the oversight of the 5-year CIP program, the department offers a full range of service and support for residents, businesses and City departments.
