Hosted by Angie May and Andy Ptacek of The Uncommon Coach Andy Ptacek is your Renewal Retreat host and author of the best-selling book that inspired this transformative weekend, New Again: Healing Through Perspective. Andy got her start in TV as a Rocky Mountain Emmy nominee for a series she produced for ABC-15 as an undergrad intern at Arizona State University’s prestigious Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Andy then went on to work in public relations, but when she became pregnant with her first son, she decided to start her own business and work on her own terms. At the peak of the 2008 recession, Andy co-founded Liquis Digital when websites were exclusively built by hand and social media was just being born. 10+ years, a thriving business (and another child) later, Andy was diagnosed with brain cancer. It rocked everything. First, in a scary way. Then, in a grateful way. The journey was agonizing at times, but perspective taught her that she wasn’t damaged. The experience actually grew her self-awareness, her ability to love, her patience, her worldview, and her faith. Andy has been a CrossFit trainer since 2013 with continued certifications in endurance and weightlifting. She also qualified and competed nationally in weightlifting two years post brain surgery. The “old Andy” had grown into something new–something better–that has carried over into all areas of her life and she believes we all are capable of this, even without a massively traumatic experience to shake us awake.
