Description
Expand your communication skills in this short 8-week course helping to promote your next speaking opportunity! As the Speechcraft name implies, it was created to help people turn their speaking skills into a craft—to help them advance their professional and personal communication through a condensed version of the Toastmasters member experience. In this eight-week program, participants, who are called Speechcrafters, have the opportunity to boost their confidence as they improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills, all within the safe environment a Toastmasters club promotes. After completing the course, they may be inspired to continue their Toastmasters journey by visiting or joining a club. The class will run every Saturday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM for eight weeks (last class will be April 2nd, 2022). Joshua started his Toastmasters journey with HYP (Harrisburg Young Professionals) Toastmasters over seven years ago in April 2012 after finding a career-launching job in Pennsylvania state government. Since coming to Harrisburg, Josh realized the importance of having a strong acumen of communication and leadership skills, and through the encouragement of a friend who was leaving the area, decided the time came to join Toastmasters. Ever since then, Josh has not only developed these skills, but has been encouraged by many fellow past leaders of Toastmasters to earn his Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) recognition in December 2017, and become the 1st person in District 38 to finish any path in the new Pathways Educational Program, launched on October 30th, 2017, and the 100th person in the world to finish any path since Toastmasters rolled out the program in February 2017. He has served in the following club and District leadership and support roles in his Toastmasters career: • Vice President of Education (Chambersburg Toastmasters, Club #1981, Chambersburg, PA – July 2019-December 2019)• Vice President of Education (HYP Toastmasters & Scholastic Toastmasters – July 2019-June 2020)• Charter Member & Club President, Carlisle Community Toastmasters (May 2019-June 2020)• Club Growth Director – District 38 (July 2018-June 2019)• Club Coach – Susquehanna Advanced Toastmasters (Currently In Progress)• Club Coach – Chambersburg Toastmasters (Club #1981, District 18, Distinguished)• Vice President of Membership (Scholastic Toastmasters (July-December 2018)• President’s Distinguished Division A Director – 2017-2018 Toastmasters Year (District 38)• Vice President of Public Relations & Secretary (Scholastic Toastmasters – 2017-2018, Select Distinguished)• Division A Director – 2016-2017 Toastmasters Year (Distinguished District 38)• Area 13 Director – 2016-2017 Toastmasters Year (Distinguished District 38)• Pathways Ambassador – Spring 2017 & Pathways Guide – October 2017–March 2018• Club Coach (Scholastic Toastmasters – Completed June 2016, Select-Distinguished Club)• Vice President of Education (HYP Toastmasters – 2015-2016, President’s Distinguished)• President (HYP Toastmasters – 2012-2013, Select-Distinguished) Outside of Toastmasters, Josh participates on local boards including an emergency shelter/skills development shelter called the Shalom House. Josh enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling to unique places (especially if they involve roadtrips!) during times he is not occupied with other activities. His future career aspirations of being a college professor and motivational speaker are motivated because of Toastmasters’ influence.
