FRANKLIN, WI — The Franklin Common Council is set to consider a contract at its meeting Tuesday that would bring a replica of the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial to Franklin in June and July of 2022. The contract would lay plans for a visit from "The Wall That Heals," a 375-foot long touring replica of the Washington, D.C Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The replica travels the U.S. with an education center in tow and has so far visited over 700 communities, according to the memorial replica's website. The panels of the traveling replica are comprised of more than 58,000 names of veterans of the Vietnam War. Each name is backlit with LED lights and the panels are made of Avonite, a synthetic granite. If the Common Council approves the contract Tuesday the wall could be expected to be in Franklin from June 30-July 3. More information about The Wall That Heals is available at its website.
