He may not be sending the Kratchits a prize turkey anytime soon, but even Bill Belichick isn't immune to the Christmas spirit.
The famously ornery Patriots coach saw his heart grow three sizes with the media Monday morning, apologizing for being "short" with them two days before after his team's error-filled loss to the Colts in Indianapolis.
"Look, fellas, I apologize if it seemed like I was a little short with you after the game," Belichick told reporters.
He added: "Not really trying to be short, but honestly there's not too much to say. ... It's not your fault, it was a frustrating game."
The Patriots threw two interceptions, weren't able to run the ball, had a player ejected, allowed a blocked punt for a touchdown and gave up a back-breaking 67-yard score at the end of the game.
It all led to a number of terse responses in the postgame press conference, including several answers that were fewer than 10 words. (What'd he see on the blocked punt? "We didn't block the guy." Do the team think it can turn the page for Buffalo next week? "We'll see.")
But on Monday he led with a 126-word apology on Zoom.
Pass the roast beast, coach.
