Hamden Man Held BB Gun To Driver's Head On I-84: State Police

MANCHESTER, CT — A Hamden man in a car swerving along Interstate 84 Sunday is accused of holding a BB gun to the driver's head in what state police described in a report as a domestic violence incident. According to an incident report, state police at the Troop H barracks began getting calls about the erratic vehicle at about 12:05 p.m. The car at the time was on the westbound side of the highway near Exit 62 in Manchester, according to the report. Troopers intercepted the vehicle on Route 5/15 southbound, prior to Exit 87, in Hartford, according to the report. The front passenger, 20-year-old Hamden resident Enrique Sosa, is accused of holding a BB gun to the driver's head and a large knife to the driver's wrist while making threats in the moving vehicle, according to the report. Sosa is also accused of grabbing the steering wheel and threatening to crash the vehicle, the report indicates. The driver sustained a minor injury, state police said. Sosa was charged with: Illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicleCarrying a dangerous weaponDisorderly conductSecond-degree assaultFirst-degree threatening First-degree reckless endangerment First-degree unlawful restraint Sosa was held on a $250,000 bond overnight and was to Monday in Manchester Superior Court, state police said. "Thanks to the quick-thinking of members of the public who reported the erratic movement of the vehicle to 911, state police were able to interrupt this incident and minimize the risk of serious injury to the victim as well as other members of the public," state police said in an accompanying statement. "As always, the Connecticut State Police encourage members of the public to report erratic drivers and other suspicious incidents to police as soon as it is safe to do so."
