All of the candidates ran unopposed in the caucus, and most vowed to address housing affordability and enact public safety reforms if elected. (Seven Days)Burlington-based healthcare technology company THINKMD has been awarded $2.3 million by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It has also raised an additional $4 million in a financing round, putting it on track to expand globally beyond the 10 countries it currently serves. Co-founders and physicians Barry Finette and Barry Heath launched the company in 2015 with a smartphone-based medical intelligence platform that allows community health workers without medical training to diagnose and treat sick children with remarkable efficacy. Said Leahy, "Domestic and sexual violence are complex problems which we need to address on multiple fronts, which these grants do." The four grant recipients are Voices Against Violence/Laurie's House, Vermont Center for Crime Victims Services, Steps to End Domestic Violence, and the Vermont Network Against Sexual and Domestic Violence.
