Press release from Branding Shorts: Dec. 20, 2021 Hoboken's "The Mile in the Eye" film was selected to be part of the International Monmouth Film Festival, which streams December 17-19. This Telly Award-Winning short documentary (16-minutes) produced by Branding Shorts, a Hoboken-based creative agency, tells the story of why Hoboken, the "Mile Square City,"and fourth most densely populated city in the country, surrounded by the worst of the pandemic, was called a "model" for the rest of the country. It about how this small city in the "eye of the Covid-19 storm" was able to overcome the odds through the power of community. The documentary was produced entirely during lockdown and features Hoboken's Mayor Bhalla, Chief of Police Ferrante, medical professionals, residents, and business owners including the "Cake Boss." Produced and directed by husband-wife team Tony Parents & Micki Pagano-Parente, and edited by Tony, Micki and Grace Hill. "When you think the world is ending and everything just slows down - it really teaches us what's most important in life," said Blaire Perrin, professional singer and mom of two who also appears in the documentary. This message is clear throughout the documentary. As city officials, the medical community, business owners, and residents worked tirelessly together to overcome the invisible enemy through strength, resilience, compassion and the power of community. "Hoboken is an amazing community that overcame some of histories most challenging moments, like Hurricane Sandy, by sticking together." said Micki Pagano-Parente, Co-Founder/Creative Director at Branding Shorts. "Producing this was a work of love because we're passionate about our city," said Tony Parente, Co-Founder/Producer at Branding Shorts. "The documentary made me cry and smile and laugh all at the same time!! It really showed how strong the city has been despite so many catastrophes. It's so nice to see such a diverse community come together." Dr. Sheeba Ben, Riverside Medical.
