ST. CHARLES, IL — The search is underway for a new superintendent for the St. Charles Community Unit District 303. The District 303 school board was expected to begin discussing next steps during its Monday meeting following last week's announcement that James Pearson would be leaving for a new job as superintendent of Northbrook School District 28, according to media reports. The board appreciates Dr. Pearson's service to the greater Saint Charles community during his tenure with the district," said Jillian Barker, District 303 school board president. "His calm, compassionate, student-centered leadership style has provided guidance, support, and vision for our students, staff, and families." Barker said the school board plans to work with Pearson through the rest of the school year to complete the school board's goals and priorities around completing a strategic plan and taking part in an equity audit process. Pearson will start his new job with Northbrook in July 1. Pearson has been with District 303 for 11.5 years, serving as area assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent and then superintendent of schools. He said he was grateful to his staff for their commitment to students and families in District 303, especially over the past 21 months as they navigated challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
