KEENE, NH — Anyone who is indoors at a public space in Keene will now have to wear a mask to help cut down on a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
Employees of businesses are required to wear a mask at all times when interacting with the public.
With around 250 active cases in Keene alone, a few cases of the omicron variant were confirmed in Cheshire County.
This decision comes after the Keene City Council voted to bring back a city-wide mask mandate during a meeting on Thursday night.
Keene's city manager says law enforcement will be taking this mask mandate seriously.
"They have a verbal warning for the first offense. A second offense would be a written offense and the third offense would be a fine of $100. Any subsequent offenses are $250," Elizabeth Dragon, Keene's city manager, said.
Children under the age of 10 are not required to wear masks. The mandate is set to be reviewed every 60 days.
