WOODBURY, MN — A sergeant in the Woodbury Police Department stepped down from his role last week to take over as the new police chief for a small town in Chisago County. After serving more than two decades as a Woodbury police officer, Sgt. Neil Bauer was recently hired as the next police chief and public safety director for Wyoming, Minnesota, according to a news release. 1 Woodbury School Added To COVID-19 Outbreak List Bauer grew up in Woodbury and joined the department in 1999 as a community service officer. He was promoted to police officer in 2000 after earning his undergraduate degree, the release states. Bauer completed paramedic school in 2003 and served as an officer/paramedic for several years until his promotion to sergeant in 2007, according to the release from Woodbury police. He also holds a master's degree and a doctorate in education.
