DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Town Council will consider the purchase of five additional electronic radar speed display signs for busy thoroughfares at its meeting Tuesday. The town would shell out more than $20,000 to install the new signs in spring of 2022. The Danville Town Council is slated to vote on a resolution to authorize the purchase and installation at its 5 p.m. Tuesday meeting. California has seen a steep uptick in speeding since the pandemic, according to a report by Danville Transportation Manager Andrew Dillard. The town currently has 10 radar speed display signs to reduce speeding in areas where speed bumps are not practical because of higher speed limits. The signs have helped reduce traffic speeds between 2 to 5 mph, Dillard said. The new signs would be located in the following areas, if approved. Eastbound Greenbrook Drive, east of Camino Ramon.Northbound San Ramon Valley Boulevard, north of Elworthy Ranch Drive.Southbound San Ramon Valley Boulevard, south of Elworthy Ranch Drive.Eastbound Sycamore Valley Road, east of Brookside Drive.Westbound Sycamore Valley Road, west of Greenbrook Drive. Tune into the Town Council meeting via Zoom. The Webinar ID is 874 5064 3513.
