Job description A beautiful 55+ Senior Recreational Community Center located in San Diego has an immediate opening for one full time maintenance technician. Working hours consists of evening and weekend shifts. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Duties: Performs standard custodial work as well as operating small and large power tools, swimming pool and spa pumps and filters, light to moderate landscaping work. Candidates must be comfortable with frequent interaction with facility members and visitors. Our facility is open 7 days a week which requires varying shift hours and will require some flexibility. A willingness to work overtime as needed to meet scheduling needs is a must. Requirements: *Essential Functions * High level of customer service * Pleasant, confident and professional manner * High integrity and strong work ethic * Must be self-motivated, dependable and able to perform well without supervision * Capable of writing, reading and verbalizing detailed work orders and instructions * Able to perform basic handyman repairs, service and maintenance * Proficient in use of standard manual and power tools * Familiarity with the safe use of cleaning tools, chemicals and supplies * Able to climb and work from steps, step-stools and ladders * Work occasionally in a stooped position for long periods of time * Able to set up meeting rooms and events * Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform light to moderate landscape work * Must pass an independent physical exam for this class of work * Must pass drug, alcohol and physical aptitude tests * Communicate in English language required Valid driver’s license and ability to drive during work shift as needed Education and Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in custodial work - Experience in basic facility or building security, including locking and alarming buildings - Senior, community center and/or school campus experience a plus - High school diploma or equivalent - Demonstrated ability to work with customers - Effective problem-solving skills - Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations
