East Lansing Roller Derby is pleased to announce our 2022 Basic Skills Roller Derby Boot Camp – Winter 2022. No prior experience is necessary in order to participate! Our boot camp develops skaters to their full potential, regardless of prior skill, experience and ability. Basic Skills Boot Camp is run twice a week, for 8 consecutive weeks. The first 3 weeks start at a level 1 beginner course, teaching skills such as stops, falls, proper skating form and derby stance. Participants move onto Level 2, agility and endurance, & level 3, roller derby strategy and hitting. At the conclusion of the boot camp, skaters will complete a minimum safety skills test. Our boot camp offers a flexible attendance option. Our trainers work with your individual skill level, so even if you need to take time off, we can accommodate your schedule and still keep you on track. Loaner gear is available to borrow at NO COST to you! *Location* All training sessions are held at Court One Training Center (7868 Old M 78 Rd, East Lansing) This is on the NE side of town, near Van Atta's Flower Shop, Bath Meijer and across the street from Speedway. *Dates & Times* Sundays & Thursday evenings. Sunday sessions will be focused on learning new content and our track space will be devoted to the boot camp. On Thursdays we will be reviewing and practicing what was learned from the Sunday session. Thursday sessions are run during the same time frame as normal league practice, so although you will be working on your basic skills, there will be opportunity to interact and connect with your future teammates. These sessions are designed to review what was learned on that previous Sunday. Can't make it one day that week? No problem, we will get you caught up based off of where you are at in your skills development! *COST* $80 due day 1 of camp or upon registration We accept cash or check or online payments via Paypal or Venmo Did we mention, NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! We will teach you everything you need to know. We are are also recruiting referees and non-skating officials. That means, even if you can't be involved ON skates, but are still interested in roller derby, we have just the role for you as a non-skating official or volunteer! Gear should be purchased ahead of time, however we DO have loaner gear available at NO COST to you.
