Retired couple needing property tax information

Needing help and guidance please. Property tax lien threatens loss of home. Retired couple in dire need of a loan to pay for the lien against their home. They were first time owners and not fully aware of their pending situation. The home is totally paid for, free and clear but a tax lien is threatening loss. Can't get a loan on the home due to the lien. Do you know of a solution? They are desperate to save their home. Any info to help would be so appreciated.
