Brian Thomas and Alex Lee-Clark first assembled the band in 2011, having recently met in grad school at UMass-Amherst, and having found that they were kindred spirits both in taste in music and in their desire to see the art form of the big band brought outside the walls of the music conservatory. In the subsequent years, the BT ALC Big Band has released four albums. The most recent, The Search For Peace, was released on Ropeadope Records, and been a featured pick in both Downbeat and Relix Magazine. Their 4th Thursday residency at Sally O’Brien’s has become a live musical spectacle not to be missed, and they maintain an active schedule as guest clinicians throughout Massachusetts and greater New England. Soundcheck Studios is a live music venue created by musicians for musicians.
