GLEN COVE, NY — A 40-year-old woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run Saturday morning on Long Island and police have released a photo of the SUV that fled the scene. According to police, the woman was crossing Pearsall Avenue just west of Walnut Road in Glen Cove around 10:45 a.m. when she was struck by what is believed to be a black Chevy Trailblazer. The driver "stopped momentarily," but then fled the scene, Glen Cove police said. The woman, a mother of three, suffered serious injuries and was listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Police have not released her name. "Instead of trying to help the injured woman the driver fled the scene traveling eastbound on Pearsall Avenue, " Glen Cove Det. Lt. John Nagle said. The photo above is the actual photo of the SUV involved in the crash. It was taken moments before the crash. The vehicle likely has some front-end damage, police said. Anyone with information about the crash or the identity of the driver should contact the Glen Cove police detective division at 516-676-1002.
