Press release from INTEMPO: Dec. 18, 2021 Mecha Noodle Bar, with five restaurant locations across Connecticut (and growing), harnesses the power of everyday food choices to bring the community together while fighting for noble causes. At the heart of their effort is the Eat Justice movement, which leverages partnerships, events, and "noodles for a cause" to advance cultural diversity, increase access to healthy food, and empower others. Mecha Noodle Bar plans to raise approximately $15,000 for INTEMPO, a Stamford-based intercultural music school and youth-development organization by donating $0.50 from every bowl of ramen sold in the month of December. Their Eat Justice movement has raised over $300,000 for charitable causes since its inception in 2017. (That's a lot of noodles!) The founders of Mecha Noodle Bar created a philanthropic movement within their company culture that says, 'Profits matter, people matter more'. Eat Justice exists to inspire entrepreneurs, business leaders and companies to serve and transform our local communities. Mecha Noodle Bar was introduced to INTEMPO when the music school held its signature Cultural Crossover Concert at the Avon Theatre, across the street from the restaurant's downtown Stamford location. INTEMPO's mission of making classical and multi-cultural music relevant, inclusive, and accessible immediately resonated with the social entrepreneurs and diverse staff at Mecha. "Their restaurant connects food, culture and people in a meaningful way, just as we do with music and diversity in our community," says Angie Durrell, Founder and Executive Director of INTEMPO. "We are grateful that they've taken an interest in the arts, specifically INTEMPO and our work transforming the lives of children through the power of music." The money raised from the December Eat Justice campaign will support tuition scholarships for INTEMPO music school students and help fund additional programming in the community.
