Here are the top 5 stories today in Concord: State Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan is hosting a food drive in Walnut Creek for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. The contactless event will take place today from noon to 3 p.m. at Tice Valley Community Gym, 2055 Tice Valley Blvd., next to Rossmoor. "The food bank has specifically requested the following food items: peanut butter, whole grain cereals, hearty low sodium soup, beans and lentils, canned tuna and chicken in water, canned fruit in juice, whole wheat and whole grain pasta, and canned tomato products," Bauer-Kahan said. You can help check for eggs and bring hay to the livestock during a program at Ardenwood from 3 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23. Crab Cove Visitor Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26. The center has a large aquarium, photos and artifacts from Alameda's history, and a California Coast and Ocean Amateur Photography exhibit. (News 24/680)BART Director Debora Allen has announced her candidacy for Contra Costa Supervisor for District 4. Allen was first elected as Board Director for BART District 1 in 2016 and easily won re-election in 2020. Allen was instrumental in the creation and development of the Office of BART Inspector General and serves as the first Chair of the Standing BART Audit Committee. Allen is seeking the District 4 supervisor seat being vacated by Karen Mitchoff, who served three terms. District 4 covers Concord, much of Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Clayton and unincorporated areas around Mount Diablo. (Contra Costa Herald)At 7:38 pm Friday, the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of E 18th Street near A Street in the City of Antioch. According to Antioch Police, the stabbing occurred in the Antioch Square at a homeless encampment. Officials said all of the wounds were superficial, but the victim did require transportation to a hospital. Police are following up on suspect leads.
