Description
Horn players, singers/rappers, and guitarists, this is the Funk Project calling to you.
We need all kinds of horn player. We need saxes, trumpets, and trombones for the horn section, those plus flutes, clarinets, flugelhorns, for soloists. Violins, cellos, etc welcome. (And keys, too!)
Singers and rappers. This is funk. We need male and female leads as well as back up singers. Rappers who have the right flow for old school funk, like Guru, Shock-G, the 777s.
Guitar players. This isn't a lead guitar thing, though there will be room for that. This is about holding down the groove with the rhythm section. In funk, there are two guitars, rhythm and lead, but lead doesn't mean solos. One guitar usually plays a chord pattern and the other guitar plays a repeating single note line (go listen to AWB School Boy Crush)
The Funk Project is not a band. It is consortium of musicians dedicated to all things funk. It is a collective to build multiple acts internally and to incubate new bands externally. It is place for experienced musicians to stretch out beyond what they can do in their regular gig as well for musicians new to the Funk to learn what its all about. Straight classic funk to fusion and beyondl.
We currently have on board: two bass players, one guitar player, one drummer, two keyboard players, and several drummers and percussionists. We have a large out door venue north of Tampa interested in hosting a funk showcase. Time to build the funk community - join The Funk Project!
