Press release from the City of Spokane: 2021-12-17 DUI driver causes multiple collisions on way home from a Christmas party On Wednesday December 15, 2021 at approximately 1827 hours, officers were dispatched to the area of S. Grand BLVD/ E. 23rd Ave for a traffic collision between a dark colored Subaru and a black Jeep.  The driver of the Subaru drove away from the scene going southbound.  At 1833 hours, dispatch received a separate call that the same Subaru was driving on a curb, swerving into oncoming traffic and eventually hitting another vehicle on E. 29th Ave/S Southeast Blvd.  Once again the driver of the Subaru left the scene going southbound on Southeast Blvd.  At 1836 hours, dispatch received another call for a different collision on E. 37th Ave/S Regal St. involving the same Subaru which hit a gold Jeep.  Officers arrived on scene at E. 37th Ave/S. Regal St.  They made contact with the driver of the Subaru. Officers determined there were obvious signs of impairment. After being placed under arrest and undergoing preliminary breath testing, the results indicated an alcohol concentration level almost three times the legal limit. The driver of the Subaru was booked into the Spokane Jail for two counts of hit and run and driving while under the influence.  DUIs are prevalent around the holidays, we want everyone to have a safe and happy holiday season.
