Description

I'm looking to form a band that mainly plays covers (in our own style) of a wide variety of genres including: classic / hard / jam rock, funk, blues, ska, country, and bluegrass. Open to writing music down the road. Needs: - Players capable of playing a cover in their own style, and ability to freeform jam on the spot. - Commitment to learning songs on your own, outside of band practice. Coming to practice ready to play is a must. - Rythym / lead guitar (electric and acoustic) with lead or backing vocals. - Keys player with lead or backing vocals. - Bass player (need to know how to slap) with lead or backing vocals. - Drummer (vocals a plus). "Acoustic" experience on Djembe or Cajone is appealing. Details: - Plan to gig every 1-2 months with revolving setlists. I am happy to spearhead finding / booking gigs for the band. - Setlists voted on by the band as a whole. - Practices ~1 time a week (weeknights preferable, schedule flexible), more or less as needed. - I have an area in the basement with my guitar setup, bass amp stack, and very old electric church organ. It is large enough (and already has) fit a full drum kit. Fitting another guitarist would be a challenge, and I am willing to contribute to reserving practice space elsewhere if the need arises. - Involvement in other bands or side projects is OK. A little background about me: Mechanical Engineer by day, music enthusiast by night. I was trained classically on violin for 11 years starting at age 5, and pivoted to bluegrass for 3 years after (rusty nowadays). I learned bass (stand-up & electric) and guitar (acoustic & electric) during middle school. During college, I played bass and sang backup vocals in multiple bands for a few years, gigging periodically. After college, I've played lead guitar and sang lead vocals in two informal groups. I've dabbled with mandolin & banjo throughout the years. I'd consider the following as my main influences: Led Zeppelin, Phish, Jimi Hendrix, Sublime, moe., Buck Owens, Steely Dan, Yes, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. My ideal contribution would be primarily lead guitar, rythym as needed, 75% backup vocals / 25% lead vocals, and additional instruments (willing to learn) as needed. Message me if interested!
