Press release from City School District of Albany: December 17, 2021 The City School District of Albany was notified Friday of 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. All the individuals and their unvaccinated contacts are quarantining at home. Four cases are associated with Eagle Point Elementary School: One case is associated with second grade. This individual was last in the building Dec. 14. The Albany County Health Department has identified 19 additional contacts, but two are not required to quarantine because they are fully vaccinated.  Two cases are associated with fourth grade. Both individuals were last in the building Dec. 13. The health department has identified 17 additional contacts. The fourth case affects grades 4-5. This individual was last in the building Dec. 13. The health department has identified 11 additional contacts.  Two cases involve Sheridan Preparatory Academy. One case is associated with fifth grade. This individual was last in the building Dec. 14. The health department has identified five additional contacts, but four are not required to quarantine because they are fully vaccinated. The second case is associated with the school's YMCA after-school program. This individual was last in the building Dec. 16. The health department has identified no additional contacts.  Another case is associated with Albany High School's Abrookin Career and Technical Center. This individual was last in the building Dec. 16. The health department has identified six additional contacts, but one is not required to quarantine because they are fully vaccinated. Another case is associated with both Arbor Hill Elementary School and Delaware Community School. This individual was last in the buildings Dec. 15. The health department has identified no additional contacts.  Another case is associated with fifth grade at Giffen Memorial Elementary School. This individual was last in the building Dec. 16. The health department has identified 25 additional contacts, but three are not required to quarantine because they are fully vaccinated. Another case is associated with eighth grade at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School. This individual was last in the building Dec. 16. The health department has identified four additional contacts, but one is not required to quarantine because they are fully vaccinated. Friday's final case is associated with grades 3-4 at Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST). This individual was last in the building Dec. 10. The health department has identified 17 additional contacts, but three are not required to quarantine because they are fully vaccinated. Health and safety procedures at all district buildings continue to include cleaning and sanitizing. We will continue with these procedures, and also will continue to follow all required COVID-19 precautions (wearing masks inside all district buildings, hand hygiene, social distancing of 3 feet or more in all classrooms, and other precautions). We also would like to remind everyone of steps you can take to help be safe: Signs of COVID-19 are: fever, fatigue/tiredness, muscle/body aches or pains, congestion, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, headache, loss of taste or smell, rash, feeling sick or unwell in any way.
