Description
HERNDON, VA — Members of the Herndon Woman's Club will be honoring the memory of the more than 890 veterans who have been interred at Chestnut Grove Cemetery on Saturday as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.
At 12 noon, the club will conduct a brief ceremony when they'll remember the service member who served and are serving in the military. At the conclusion of the ceremony, club members will place wreaths at every veteran's grave. The cemetery and wreath laying ceremony are open to the public.
On National Wreaths Across America Day, millions of people come together to honor U.S. veterans and those who serve as a way to teach children the value of freedom. "Live Up to Their Legacy" is this year's theme.
Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon was established in 1872 and serves as the resting place for veterans all the way back to the War of 1812. To sponsor a wreath for this year's event, donated $15 online at wreathsacrossamerica.org/VA0143P, or send a check made payable to Herndon Woman's Club, P.O. Box 231, Herndon, VA, 20172.
