Agenda Item 6 – Recognition of Freed's Dessert Shop Downtown: City Council recognized Freed's recently opened dessert shop in downtown Las Vegas at 60 E. California Ave. in the heart of the 18B Las Vegas Arts District. Freed's opened in 1959 and is now a third generation bakery. The company began with one small bake shop and has expanded to six locations with another coming soon. Learn more about the new shop. Agenda Item 12 – Cragin Park Renovation: City Council approved a contract for design services to renovate Cragin Park with synthetic grass soccer fields, fencing, baseball facility, lighting, irrigation, playground equipment, pathways and trails. The WLB Group is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Agenda Item 13 – Huntridge Circle Park Renovation: City Council approved a contract for the creation of three alternative site plan concepts for Huntridge Circle Park. Plans are to be presented and one chosen by the community through public meetings. Stantec Consulting Services is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Agenda Item 14 – Respite Center at Salvation Army: City Council approved a contract for design services to either add to the existing structure or demolish and replace the existing structure at 1581 N. Main St. KGA, Inc. is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Agenda Item 21 – Alcoholic Beverage Temporary Programs: City Council approved a Resolution extending the duration of temporary programs. Previous ordinances and resolutions have authorized temporary measures and programs allowing certain types of businesses with an alcoholic beverage license and a restaurant license to offer and provide the delivery, curbside pick-up, or take-out of alcoholic beverages in connection with the delivery, pick-up, or take-out of food by a person who has placed an order therefor. Those measures and programs expire by limitation on the earliest of Jan. 1, 2022, the cessation of the city's Declaration of Emergency, or the adoption of an ordinance codifying the measures or programs. This Resolution extends the measures and programs until the earlier of July 1, 2022, or the adoption of an ordinance codifying or superseding the measures and programs. Agenda Item 43 – Hotel/Motel Rental Inspection Program Report: On April 21, 2021, City Council approved the adoption of Ordinance 6776 that created an inspection program that focused on non-transient lodging hotels and motels. At this meeting they were given a report which highlighted the initial results of the Hotel/Motel Rental Inspection Program. Key points included: There are currently 36 hotel/motel properties built in 1981 or earlier in the program. As of today, five properties built between 1942 and 1977 have been inspected. There were 168 violations found during those inspections. The goal is to complete one property inspection per week as these are in-depth and usually need re-inspections due to violations. Agenda Item 44 – Report on The Animal Foundation: An updated report regarding the contractual relationship between the city of Las Vegas and The Animal Foundation was given to council.
