HUDSON VALLEY, NY — 'Tis the season for giving back to your community. There are a number of ways that you and your family can help out through the holidays and help others. Every day through Christmas, Patch will be highlighting a way you can provide compassion and resources to those in need. Volunteer New York! makes it easy to find ways to help — through donations, supporting nonprofits and even volunteering from home. Today's opportunity is for Heartsong in White Plains. The organization provides a program of art, dance movement and music therapy for people with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to assist with the Saturday program as participants build up their social skills, language, self-esteem, fine motor skills and more. The volunteers will help with set-up and clean-up and work directly with participants to engage them in therapy sessions under supervision of lead therapists.
