After receiving the call at 7 a.m., officers found a 46-year-old man and 40-year-old woman dead inside a residence and say it is "looking as if it is an isolated incident." There were no details released on what relationship between the man and woman, if any, existed or any information about a potential suspect. (11Alive.com WXIA) Work has begun on installing 10,000 new streetlights across Atlanta in an effort officials hope will help reduce crime. The citywide project, "One Atlanta — Light Up the Night," was launched Tuesday and includes replacing some of the 2,500 broken lights in the city as well as installing 7,500 new lights, especially in the south and west sides of the city. "The City of Atlanta is replicating successful lighting initiatives implemented in New York, Detroit, and other U.S. cities that have seen significant reduction in crime and crash rates," said Josh Rowan, city transportation commissioner. The mayor's office said it hopes to have the project completed by the end of 2022. (Macon Telegraph) Atlanta has the worst inflation in the country, meaning everything from fuel to groceries to home prices are going up. Economist KC Conway explained to Channel 2's Justin Wilfon why Atlanta has been hit so hard by rising prices. "I look at anecdotal things, the cost of bacon, cost of used cars, paint. All those things are way up. And when you have almost double-digit bacon inflation, we have real inflation," Conway said, attributing part of the problem to Atlanta's population growth. High inflation rates could be a long-term problem in metro Atlanta, Conway said, with high prices likely to remain for the next year or two.
