Description

Drumming for All. You will have a great time drumming and learning rhythms and solos in a series of classes with exciting African rhythms! DrumConnection takes the deeply rooted, 'genetic connection' humans have with music and combine it with the time-honored traditions of drumming and dance of many cultures. For the past 40 years, our main focus has focussed on African drumming of the 5-7 djembe/dunun specific countries, rhythms, people's lives, and we’ve formed a school for those at all skill and experience levels. We take it seriously and have enriching and fun classes and workshops. Join us! Classes are held in Lexington, MA, easy to get to and parking is a breeze! Our drumming class on Friday nights is for all levels, so you will feel very welcome here. It is challenging but not above your own abilities. We will be playing the African djembe and ashiko drums as well as the magical bass drums, the Dunu consisting of the high, medium, and low pitch bass drums. In most villages, there will be one, two, or all three of them being played. In the African Ballets, it is almost always all three drums played. Please bring your djembe or other hand drums to class. If you don't have one, rental drums are available at $75.- for the 8-week session; you take the drum with you in its carry bag and bring it to class each week. Let us know that you will be renting one before class #1, or the first session you can attend. We can't wait to get started! In rhythm, Alan
