Celebrate Kwanzaa with activities for all ages and experience moCa's current exhibitions.
On Sunday, December 26, from 1-4pm, join moCa Artist-in-Residence Joyce Morrow Jones and the Greater Cleveland Kwanzaa Alliance for Umoja: Unity–It Takes a Village–a celebration of the first day of Kwanzaa. Umoja, which in Swahili means unity and is the first of the Nguzo Saba, the seven principles that form the week-long celebration's foundation. Kwanzaa is an African American cultural celebration founded in 1966 and observed each year, over seven days, from December 26-January 1, and everyone is welcome to join our community.
At the Umoja event, the Elders of Ceremony will be Paul and Marquita Hill; Doris Willis; and moCa's Artist-in-Residence, Joyce Morrow Jones.
Musical guests include Obie Shelton, Hue People, and storytelling griots Jackki Boyd, Judy Bateman, Joyce Morrow Jones, and more.
