Lifeguard Review This course is designed for individuals who have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Card or who are no more than 30 days expired. Participants must bring a copy of their current certification card, hip pack, adult and pediatric sizes CPR masks, whistle, and gloves. Participants will be required to show proof of current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Participants must participate in all scheduled sessions. Sunday, January 16, 8 AM - 6 PM Course Fee: $175.00 PRE-COURSE SWIM TEST 1. Swim 300 continuous yards performing Freestyle or Breaststroke or a combination of both. You must do this showing rhythmical breathing (face/eyes must be in the water and breathing to the side). You may wear goggles. 2. Tread Water two (2) minutes using legs only. You must remain vertical in the water head must remain out of the water. You may not use your arms to assist. 3. You must complete the following within One minute, forty seconds (you may NOT wear goggles for this portion of the test. If you wear contact lens you should bring a container to remove them) o Start in the water at the shallow end of the pool. When the instructor says "GO": • Swim to the deep end of the pool. There will be a 10 lb weight at the bottom of the pool that you will be looking for. When you get to the weight • Surface dive (head first or feet first) to the bottom of the pool to retrieve the weight • Once you make contact you must keep both hands on the weight for the remainder of the test using ONLY your legs to kick on your back to return to the shallow end of the pool where you started. (keep both hands on the brick). Place weight on side of pool and climb out without using the steps or ladder. Participants must have a valid Lifeguard Certification. Lifeguard certification includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer including AED and First Aid. Lifeguard Certification is valid for 2 years.
