Press release from the Quincy Public Schools:
12/16/2021
Dear Quincy Public Schools Staff, Students, Parents, and Guardians, I am writing to inform you that many of our school administrators have been notified of an anonymous TikTok post stating "praying for all schools Friday" but not specifically targeting any particular school or school district or location. The origin of this post is not clear as the TikTok platform is available worldwide. Out of abundance of caution, we notified the Quincy Police Department to assist with investigating this disturbing post. This post has been shared among students, especially at Quincy High School, and the rumors have grown to be about specific schools. I want to reassure you that we take all threats of this nature seriously and at this time, there does not appear to be a credible risk to the safety and security of our schools. As a precaution, there will be additional Quincy Police presence around school buildings on Friday, December 17. Since the post and rumors have been shared widely within the school community, this may be unsettling for students, families, and staff. Our Guidance staff is available to assist with any students who may be feeling anxious or concerned about returning to school. In addition, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Kevin W. Mulvey, J.D. Superintendent of Schools 617-984-8701 [email protected]
