NORWOOD, MA - The Norwood Public Schools did not experience any threats of violence as a result of today's nationwide challenge Friday on the social media platform TikTok The post referred to a threat to school safety "for every school in the USA, even elementary," on Friday, December 17. "No Threats- finger in a crossed position," said Superintendent David Thomson in an email Friday morning. "Unfortunately our attendance rate has fallen to 77%; normal is about 93%." Thomson, working with Norwood police, warned parents about the potential threat in a letter to families yesterday. Norwood police added officers to the schools in case an emergency occurred. Area school districts took the same approach, including the public school districts in Dedham and Canton.
