NORTH HAVEN, CT— As the coronavirus pandemic continues in the United States, many people have turned to online services for grocery pickup and delivery, including in North Haven.
Instacart, a grocery delivery service, released some year-end statistics showing what people across the United States ordered in 2021. Nearly half of all Americans reported they had groceries delivered to their house during the pandemic, a survey by the company said.
North Haven shoppers ordered chicken bacon, rapini, Italian sausage, canned crushed tomatoes, and Greek/Icelandic yogurt most this year. North Haven's delivery preferences are most similar to Milford, MA according to Instacart.
Also, North Haven ordered enough bananas to create a stack as high as 146 Statues of Liberty.
The preferred ice cream flavors in North Haven were the same as the most popular flavors nationwide: cookies and cream, cookie dough, strawberry, mint chip, and chocolate peanut butter, Instacart said.
Across the U.S., there was an increase in orders for gemelli pasta, cereal bars, and prepared sandwiches and wraps. Orders declined for pork center roasts, wax-covered cheese, and yeast.
