HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A Havre de Grace business has been sold to an investor. J.M. Smucker Co. agreed to sell two facilities to Nexus Capital Management, including the one in Havre de Grace, the company announced this week in a news release. In a move to focus on its core brands, J.M. Smucker Co. is selling its natural and organic beverage and grains businesses in a cash transaction valued at approximately $110 million. The Old Bay Lane plant handled beverage production. Officials said the sale includes R.W. Knudsen, TruRoots and Santa Cruz Organic beverages but does not include nut butters, fruit spreads, syrups or applesauce, according to authorities. In addition, the J.M. Smucker Co. plans to close its production facility in 2022 in Ripon, Wisc., and to consolidate production at a facility in Orrville, Ohio. The J.M. Smucker Co. plans to focus its resources on its "core brands," which it identified as Uncrustables sandwiches, Jif and Smuckers.
