Description
Press release from the City of Colorado Springs: 2021-12-16 Colorado Springs Airport (COS) traffic continued to outperform 2019 numbers in the month of November. A total of 178,643 total passengers traveled through COS in November, of which 89,829 were enplanements. Both total passengers and enplanements rose 25.7 percent in comparison to November 2019. Other significant increases for the month were the number of available seats in the market. With Southwest Airlines beginning service in March 2021 and other carriers increasing service or using larger aircraft, COS has seen a steady growth in seats. Seats in November were 31.7 percent higher when compared to the same period in 2019 and over 30 percent increase in seats year-to-date. With this increase in seats, November saw a 78.7 percent load factor, which is just 3.7 percent lower than November of 2019. Seats during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period increased by 26 percent in comparison to that same travel period in 2019. Passenger numbers are projected to be roughly 20 percent higher than 2019 levels across the Christmas to New Year's holiday travel period due to a 30 percent increase in seats. COS has also launched its popular holiday parking promotion, offering $4.00 daily long-term parking from December 20, 2021 to January 3, 2022. Passengers are advised to use a manned booth when exiting outside of the promotional period. An increase in traffic is expected over the holidays, so travelers are reminded to arrive at the TSA checkpoint at least 90 minutes prior to their flight's departure. Additionally, the federal mask mandate is still in effect and has been extended to March 18, 2022. Masks are required inside all areas of the airport and on all aircraft.
