HOOKSETT, NH — A woman with an active felony arson case out of Nashua was accused of biting a police officer during an incident in Hooksett on Wednesday. Around 4 p.m., an officer driving north on Hooksett Road near the Interstate 93 onramp reportedly saw a woman standing in the middle of the road. The officer made contact with the woman, identified later as Chelsie Morgan, 32, of Hudson, and requested her to move out of the roadway. "Morgan refused and told (the) officer that he was going to have to shoot her to get her to move out of the road," according to police. "The officer gave Morgan several more verbal commands and attempted to escort her out of the road. Morgan began struggling with (the) officer, attempting to assault him several times." The officer was able to contain Morgan until other officers arrived. As they attempted to place her into handcuffs, she bit the first officer in the thigh, police said. The bite broke the skin and caused bruising, so the officer was taken later to the hospital to be treated. Morgan was accused of continuing to be combative but was eventually restrained. Later, police reported, they believe they found crack cocaine in her hand. Morgan was charged with felony controlled drug: acts prohibited, resisting arrest or detention, disorderly conduct, and two simple assault charges. She was taken to the Merrimack County Jail and held. Morgan was arraigned on Thursday in Merrimack County Superior Court and held on preventive detention. According to superior court records, she pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge in March 2018 after an incident in Epping from October 2017. Morgan also has an active arson case out of Nashua. She is due for a review hearing in that case on Jan. 7, 2022. Editor's note: This post was derived from information supplied by the Hooksett Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.
