Description

Press release from the City of Mission Viejo: December 16, 2021 The City Council on Tuesday hosted a public hearing on district-based voting and approved a contract for the La Paz Bridge Rehabilitation and Road Widening Improvements, among other business.  During the public hearing on District-Based Voting, data and findings of City demographic analysis by the Center for Demographic Research at California State University, Fullerton were presented.   Council Members also approved a roughly $13 million contract for the La Paz Bridge Rehabilitation and Road Widening Improvements and gave City staff the green light to advertise bids for the Montanoso Recreation Center Rehabilitation project.   After some community members expressed concern during public comments about a proposed development – dubbed The Gardens – on the northwest side of Marguerite Parkway and La Paz, City Attorney William Curley spoke about current and underlying issues regarding the status of the developer's incomplete application as well as a potential timeline for the process. Some residents said they received information which inaccurately implied the Council would take action on the proposed project Tuesday. The City Attorney's remarks can be viewed in this video starting at the 58:00 mark. To receive updates about this project, sign up for the City's eNewsletter and select "The Gardens mixed-use project application Newsletter." Residents are encouraged to attend Council meetings, which take place in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center. Meetings are streamed live and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.    For accurate and timely updates, sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow its official social media sites.  This press release was produced by the City of Mission Viejo.
