ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst church was the victim of a scam after it recently received a fraudulent email, police said this week. Last month, a representative of Grace Bible Church, 398 W. Eggleston Ave., told police Monday the email was from someone she thought was an employee requesting to change direct deposit information, according to a report. The suspect completed a direct deposit form and emailed it to the church, which changed the direct deposit information for the employee to an account number provided by the suspect, police said. The church later learned the email was fraudulent and immediately contacted its bank and police.
