ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving offensive calls to City Hall, a domestic disturbance at a car dealership, "suspicious circumstances" at a school, possession of a stolen car, a man looking for a fire and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Offensive calls Two clerks at City Hall, 209 N. York St., told police Monday that they have received multiple offensive calls from a person complaining of poor service. The officer spoke with the person, who apologized for the way he spoke with staff and said there would be no problems in the future. Domestic at dealership A domestic disturbance occurred about 8:30 p.m. Monday at Ed Napleton Acura, 745 W. Lake St. A person reported that the suspect battered him. The person did not wish to pursue charges, but wanted to provide a statement to officers. An officer attempted to contact the suspect, but was unsuccessful. The case is pending an investigation. 'Suspicious circumstances' An incident involving "suspicious circumstances" occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday at Churchville Middle School, 155 Victory Parkway. An investigation is pending. Possession of stolen car Omar Perez, 22, of Berkeley, was arrested about 9 p.m. Monday at North and Addison on a warrant and on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, driving with a suspended license and driving without headlights. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Damage Two people were seen engraving their names in newly poured concrete Dec. 10 in the 100 block of Robert Palmer Drive. Looking for fire Stanley Bogdanowicz, 68, of Utica, was cited about 7 a.m. Tuesday at York and St. Charles on charges of disobeying a traffic control device, disobeying a stop sign and speeding. According to a police report, Bogdanowicz flagged down an officer from his car about 7 a.m. Tuesday, said he was searching for an active fire in the area and then sped away. He was eventually pulled over by officers. Bicycles A beige Trek Dual Sport bicycle was found in the wooded area Tuesday in the area behind A Shear Encounter Salon & Day Spa, 129 W. Vallette St. An officer identified the owner, who said a family member would go to the police station to pick it up. A student told police that someone stole his gray and red Schwinn Standpoint bicycle between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. The student said he was not sure if he locked the bike to the rack. Identity theft A resident in the 100 block of Joanne Way told police Wednesday that someone used his personal information to open a fraudulent Verizon Wireless account. The account has been frozen. The officer provided the resident with information to protect himself against identity theft. Fugitive driver About 3 a.m. Thursday near York and Industrial, an officer saw a vehicle suspected of being related to catalytic converter thefts. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped away. Driving violations Cedric Brooks, 28, of Carol Stream, was cited about 10 a.m. Tuesday at York and St. Charles on charges of no valid registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and tinted windows. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
