14 CMSD Schools Closed Friday Due To 'Sick Faculty Members'

CLEVELAND, OH — The Cleveland Metropolitan School District announced on its website that it closed 14 campuses Friday. Cleveland Metropolitan School District Interim Deputy Chief of Communications Tom Ott told several news outlets that the schools were closed because "a large portion of their staffs had called in sick." He also added that there were not enough substitute teachers available to keep classes going - even remotely for some of the schools. According to CMSD, the schools that close Friday without remote learning as an option were: A. J. KennedyMary BethuneWade ParkWaverlyWillson The John Adams College & Career Academy and The School of One site at John Adams continued classes remotely Friday. The Rhodes College & Career Academy and Rhodes School of Environmental Studies switched to remote learning Wednesday through Friday. CMSD's downtown welcome center is currently closed to the public this week. However, officials said the closure is due to repairs being made.
