BUCKEYE — Buckeye Police were investigating a school threat Friday morning that began circulating on social media the night before, Buckeye Police said in a tweet.
Police said that there was no threat to the community and that its investigators were speaking with the kids involved in making and sharing the post.
Buckeye Police have been on heightened alert this week after vague threats of violence were trending nationally on TikTok, focusing specifically on Dec. 17, the last day before winter break at many schools. But a police spokesperson told Patch via email that this particular threat was made on Instagram.
Buckeye police said they were working closely with the schools and would have an increased presence on school campuses on Friday.
"We want to remind parents to speak with their kids about their social media use," Buckeye Police said in the tweet.
