GENERAL MESSAGE SUBJECT: 11th Annual Pink Hat Tea Dear Supporters, Since its inception in 2009, the Pink Hat Tea has been an annual celebration of style and substance. As the signature fundraising event for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Omega Chapter and the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, it plays a critical role in generating the necessary resources to support our high school youth in achieving their college dreams. However, in light of ongoing developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule this year’s Pink Hat Tea for May 16, 2021. We greatly appreciate your support of the Pink Hat Tea over the years. For those who already purchased tickets for this year’s event, please know that you have the option to join us in 2021, request a refund, donate the cost of your ticket(s) to our scholarship fund or transfer the full value to another individual. The options are outlined in more detail below: ● JOIN US: If you are able to join us in 2021, you needn’t do anything further. We will transfer your ticket(s) to the new date. ● REFUND: If you are no longer able to attend, you may request a refund in the original form of payment. You must submit a request to [email protected] later than December 15, 2020. ● TICKET SCHOLARSHIP DONATION: You may donate your ticket cost to our scholarship fund and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value. You can request this option by contacting [email protected]. ● TICKET TRANSFER: You may transfer the full value of your ticket(s) to another individual. This can be done by contacting [email protected] with updated guest information. We will continue to make ticket, sponsorship, vendor, and silent auction information available on our website and via Eventbrite. True to our mission, proceeds from the Pink Hat Tea are used specifically to support the PIEF scholarship program for college-bound high school graduating seniors in the nation's capital. And now, more than ever, our scholars and community need our support. PIEF and Xi Omega Chapter remain steadfast in our commitment to providing scholarships to deserving youth. Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis, the 11th Annual Pink Hat Tea will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Renaissance Washington DC. Was it possible to host the Pink Hat Tea at another venue this year? Given the uncertainty around local reopening guidelines, we did not have a feasible option for hosting the Pink Hat Tea at another venue. I would still like to support the Pink Hat Tea’s goal to raise funds for scholarships. Can I donate the cost of my ticket? Yes! You may donate the ticket cost to the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation scholarship fund and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value. You can request this option by contacting [email protected]. I purchased a table and some of my guests would like a refund for their seat at my table. Can I receive a partial refund for my table? Will I be able to reserve my table placement if I request a partial refund? Yes, you will be able to reserve your table placement; however, the remaining (refunded) seats may be filled by other guests. I would like to request a refund. How long will it take for me to receive my refund? If you are no longer able to attend, please allow 7-10 days for the processing of your request. You may send a request for refund in the original form of payment to [email protected] later than December 15, 2020. Can I purchase additional tables or tickets at this time? Ticket sales are closed at this time. We will update our website and Eventbrite with details should additional tickets become available.
