Balancing the Body: An Evidence Informed Approach to the Most Common Massage Complaints Helping people out of pain is one of the greatest challenges for all healthcare providers. Chronic pain is one of the largest burdens on our health system and economy. As massage therapists, we are in a unique position to help address this systemic issue for a variety of reasons. This workshop examines the experience of pain and provides an evidence-based framework to care for even the most complicated clients. The content is 1/3 lecture and 2/3 hands on and interactive. 16 Continuing Education Hours, NCBTMB approved Saturday, May 21, 2022, 9am-6pm Sunday, May 22, 2022, 9am-6pm Class teaching objectives: · Evaluate client goals and set appropriate expectations · Discuss pain science for massage therapists · Differentiate between posture & function · Learn manual assessment techniques · Anatomy and pathology review for most common complaints · Demonstrate hands on treatment/technique · Create client self-care strategies Learn to identify and care for: · Headaches · Thoracic Outlet Syndrome · Shoulder impingement and rotator cuff issues · Upper/lower back pain · Sacroiliac discomfort and Sciatica · IT band issues · Hamstring tendinopathies · Patelallar tendinopathies · Shin splints · Achilles tendinopathy · Plantar fasciosis · And more… ABOUT THE EDUCATOR: Justin Kobbe Solace has been a massage therapist for 13 years, a massage educator for 10, strength trainer for 8 and holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology. He was the program chair of massage therapy at Broadview University Boise from 2011-2014 where he was awarded Faculty of the Year. He has studied with many of the great massage educators of our time and continues to teach across the country alongside his mentor Whitney Lowe. After over a decade of study Justin has realized that many massage workshops teaching therapeutic techniques are not easily integrated into practice. The goals of his seminars are to teach clinical reasoning and technique in a way that all therapists can begin using in their practice the next day.
