THIRD CULTURE BAKERY AURORA FAREWELL PARTY FRIDAY DECEMBER 31ST, 2021 10AM ~ 4PM 9935 EAST COLFAX AVE. AURORA, CO 6 FREE PASTRIES + 40% OFF YOUR ENTIRE PURCHASE CHAMPAGNE TOAST AT 4PM FREE RSVP REQUIRED TO ATTEND “When we signed our lease in Aurora, we gave ourselves three years to figure out whether we could grow our business in a brand new market,” Shyu said. “Things were going extremely well during our first month of business in Colorado, but then a worldwide pandemic began and changed everything.” Third Culture Bakery launched in the Bay Area, California in 2017 and opened their first shop in Berkeley, California, in 2018. They were focused on a West Coast expansion when they learned about the City of Aurora’s Restaurant Assistance Program, which provides financial assistance and support to new businesses. They signed a lease for an East Colfax location in January 2019, built out the space over the course of one year, and opened that showroom on February 9, 2020, with hundreds of people waiting in line outside in the snow for their first taste of mochi muffins and donuts. The pandemic shutdown began just six weeks later. Third Culture’s still-new East Colfax location was closed for several months, and reopened in the summer of 2020 in a very different climate. They opened a second Colorado showroom on Lawrence Street in Denver in the summer of 2021, but closed that location due to staffing issues in November. To celebrate their time in Colorado and thank their loyal customers for continued support, Third Culture Bakery is giving away free pastries all day on Friday, December 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (while supplies last), at their Aurora showroom. RSVP required for entry. That will be the business’s last day of operations in Colorado. “We’d like to thank the City of Aurora and our partners at Westfield Co. for their ongoing support during what’s been a very challenging almost two years,” Shyu said. “We will always be grateful for our friends and guests in Colorado.” Third Culture Bakery’s signature Mochi Muffins are available via mail order nationwide. “We’re glad our Colorado community will still be able to order mochi muffins when they want them,” said co-owner Rachel Taber. “And we hope to see them at our growing locations along the West Coast.”
